WORK REPORTS:
October: 2022
​Edwin delivered 5 mattresses on 10-4-22.   Neickol cleans various parking lots. 10-5-2022 Neickol picked up garbage on Lakeshore, near Art Gallery, and a shopping cart of garbage on Woodland. 10-4-2022 Sulphur Bank Road was a 3 hour cleanup involving Gary Gleffe (dumped furniture), Jean Gilardoni, Mark Steinberg, Terri Richardson, Barbara Christwitz, Troy Nelson, and Brittany.  Jean’s pickup was overflowing with about 600 pounds of trash that we took to the dumpster.  Vicki picked up 2 big bags in the past week. Others clean regularly without recognition.

September 2022:  Jodi Westphal has been picking up her highway section on average of 2 hours a week and two highway bags a week. Vicki picked up cans on her walk- two large bags. Ed delivered 3 mattresses, five truck tires, two truckloads to dump, one load to dumpster, and several bags of litter from walks with Jenny and Terri.  9-17-22 Coastal Clean Up Day:   A ton of garbage was picked up county wide. Amy Hammack picked up a 50 gallon bag. Vicki Crystal picked up a 50 gallon and a 30 gallon bag. Many Upward Bound students from Lower Lake High School also participated in Coastal Clean Up Day. 9-19-22 Barbara examined Heidi Marie Cano’s property near Oak and 25th Ave. Her home is on Sharp Ave. 9-20-22 Edwin and Barbara filled a pick up load from John Sloan’s home. Terri and Barbara filled a pick up load from behind Westamerica using the dumpster across from the police department. 9-21-22 Neickol Cook marked out the boundaries of Ramona Graham’s property and Barbara picked up two feed bags of trash from the area behind Westamerica Bank. 9-22-22 Chief White ordered his officers to order the tent to come down that was in the creek bed near the Redbud Library. Neickol cleaned at Redbud Park in anticipation of the Luau
9/10/22 Vicki Crystal & Columba for Adopt - A - Hwy yielding 2 bags of trash and various pieces of metal, wood, cardboard etc. Jodi Westphal also a bag of trash. Edwin Christwitz 2 pickup loads from a residence near Davis Street. Neickol and Damon work regularly as well.
8-22-22 Barbara and Edwin Christwitz helped clean the neighborhood at Sloan’s (pick up load) while Carolyn Crouse filmed and offered moral support. Vicki got four bags on her walk for about four hours, to and from Grocery Outlet. She also works on the Clean CA grant.
​8-20-22 Troy, Barbara, and Charlie each spent about 1 ½ hours cleaning a dumpsite on Sulphur Bank Road, filling a pick up to the brink. 
8-19-22 Terri and Barbara delivered the two mattresses to the landfill.
8-19-22 Charlie Thompson and Barbara cleaned for three hours the lot between the theater and back of Safeway.
8-19-22 Charlie and Barbara also pulled out two Kapok mattresses from the creek bed bridge near the library.

8-16-22 Edwin helped Joseph Carson with a pick up load to the landfill. Neickol Cook, Damon Reyes, Judy Barnes, Bill Rett, Dave Hughes, Molly Lang, Mitch Markowitz and others clean in their pet spots. Estimate of a ton of garbage was placed in its proper place, whether that be landfill or dumpster which also goes to the landfill

7-6-22 Emptied a pick up load of garbage which was picked up by Ashley and Steve on Sulphur Bank Road. 150 lbs.  
7-7-22 Emptied yet a third pick up load of garbage picked up by Ashley and Steve on Sulphur Bank Road 150 lbs. 
 
7-9-22 Edwin went to the dump and recycle twice: 7 mattresses, 6 tires, and 100 #’s metal. Vicki, Michael Jones, and Barbara worked CC4C’s section of Adopt A Highway plus a short distance near Polk St. yielding 3 highway bags for about 150 #’s. 

7-10-22 Children’s Sunday School cleaned up near the United Methodist Church yielding about 50 #’s of trash.  
7-11-22 Steve Morgan picked up about 30 #’s of trash on W. 40th behind Foods Etc. Barbara picked up about 40 #’s trash along side the road and under Burns Valley Creek bridge and delivered a shopping cart. 
 
7-12-22 Edwin retrieved drive shaft from recycle yard. 

7-12-22  Vicki picked up about 20 #’s of bottles, cans, and trash Old Highway 53 and Rumsey Road  
7-13-22 Neickol Cook picked up a tarp full (about 90 lbs.) of debris at 17th and Sulphur Bank Road. This past week Neickol has also has been cleaning the shoreline behind Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce and Vista De Lago as well as monitoring the unhoused encampments along the shore and east of the Chamber. Neickol has also been washing and cleaning cobwebs on the outside of the Chamber Building which is made of stucco.  

On July 3rd at Austin Park Mitch, Vicki, Barbara, Amy Hammack, and Mar Burger from CC4C helped clean up after the parade and fireworks from the day before. About a dozen football players from LL High School sponsored by the Clearlake Lions Club along with Public Works also cleaned. Mark found a $100 bill and Barbara found a $20 bill while cleaning. Barbara went back on the 4th and the area could use still more cleaning. Probably all told, 500 #’s of trash was hauled off after the festivities.

On July 5th Americorps’ Kristina and Emma, Columba and Barbara, Jean Gilardoni and Mark Steinberg, Dave Senna, Ashley Easton and Steve Foster all cleaned on Sulphur Bank Road. So far three pick up loads have been removed from Sulphur Bank Road and two more still need to be removed. It was quite a mess. About 1000 pounds of debris was collected.
June 29th Edwin delivered 3 mattresses for recycle.
June 30th Steve Morgan picked up near J & L Market about 30 #’s of trash and debris.
Salinda, Neickol, and Damon pick up trash regularly especially in the Highlands Park area.
 
Edwin delivered to mattress recycling 7 mattresses. Barbara picked up about 15 #’s along Burns Valley Road, Arrowhead, and Lakeshore. 6-17-22 Barbara picked up 40 #’s on Lake Street to support Upward Bound students and then on Hwy 53 between Hwy 29 and Kugleman (west side). Barbara and Jessica picked up on Hwy 53 between Kugleman and almost to Cache Creek bridge. Others pick up regularly and go unreported.

June 9th-June 15th 2022
returned grocery cart, mattress to recycle, Adopt A Hwy on June 11th and filled two 40 lbs.  bags,  Ashley and Steve passed out leaflets on Sulphur Bank Road.  Leaflets urged people to take debris to dump rather than dumping in ditches.  Ashley and Steve picked up a camper shell hot tub debris plus bags of trash.

June 3rd and 4th ,  2022   Barbara and Edwin cleaned behind Pomo School  on Burns Valley Road and Acacia about 100 lbs.   Edwin and Neickol disposed of about a 1/2 dozen appliances.   Edwin took two mattresses to the landfill.   6-7-22  Barbara Christwitz and Holger Jurgins cleaned on Sulphur Bank Road about 400 #'s of trash and construction material.  Edwin disposed of the debris from Sulphur Bank Road.   Neickol Cook and Damon Reyes work regularly around the city.   
May 26-June 1,  2022
Shawn Weaver and Barbara C. picked up about 80 #'s of trash from Highway 53.  Four mattresses went to recycle.  Took photos of abandoned Saturn car in field across from Joseph Wand Borax Lake LLC #5 parcel.  Neickol Cook and crew often work at Highland Park as well as areas in Clearlake Park.  20 #'s of trash on Burns Valley Road picked up on 5-26-22.
Work Reports
 :Jodie Westphal picked up two highway bags  (around 80 lbs.) from “her” section of the highway. Barbara and Vicki cleaned Austin Park on Monday, May 16th yielding about 25 pounds of trash. Barbara transported from her neighborhood about 60 pounds of trash from a shopping cart to a neighbor’s bin. Brian Blain loaded several heavy appliances. Brittany and friend helped clean in Highlands Park. Ayla and partner worked at the gooseneck on Lakeshore Dr. People help anonymously all the time. Thank you. Barbara spent about 6 hours with paperwork and on the phone this past week. Vicki, Ashley, and Edwin spent about 8 hours at the local health fair on May 14th .  T-shirts donations of $370.
Work Reports : The Earth Day event at Woodland College was a success.  Mitch will help clean Old Highway 53 on April 28th.  April 25th Barbara, Edwin, Holger, Terri, and Eric Vogel got two pick up loads from Sulphur Bank Road. April 24th, Sheral Brekke and Holger Jurgins picked up a pick up load of debris from Boyles Ave. April 23rd, All City of Clearlake Earth Day clean up which began from Austin Park and included around 30 volunteers. Students from Upward Bound as well as a volunteer from Americorps and many City of Clearlake Volunteers were part of the volunteer group. 27 Tires and debris were picked up from the major arteries of Clearlake and a dumpsite below the Clearlake post office from Burns Valley creek bed. April 18th , Barbara and Edwin picked up two mattresses from SB Road. Edwin and Jack took 7 mattresses, plus Barbara and Janiece LaValley took 4 mattresses to the mattress recycling program at Eastlake Landfill.   Neickol, Damon, Robert Flores, and Ayla all have been working in the Avenues.  Estimates of debris since April 13th is about ½ ton of debris, 50 tires, and 15 mattresses.

 3-18-22, 3-19-22, 3-21-22, and 3-22-22 Charlene Fassbinder cleaned approx. 100#’s of trash along Old Highway 53 as well as helped on the Joseph Wand land off of Sulphur Bank Road. 3-23-22 Jodie Westphal picked up a 40 # bag along Hwy. 53. 3-19-22 Barbara and Janiece LaValley took tires and metal to recycle plus cleaned three hours on Joseph Wand land for a total of about 350 #’s of trash. 3-20-22 Molly Lang and   Edwin took about 50 #’s trash to dumpster. 3-21-22 Jessica Fowler and Barbara picked up about 60 #’s trash along Koloko St.. 3-22-22 Edwin and Barbara cleaned at United Methodist Church on Pearl and Mullen about 50 #’s of slash and trash. 3-22-22 Terri and Barbara returned a shopping cart to Safeway. 3-23-22 Jessica Fowler cleaned a dumpsite between back of American Legion and back of fire station with about 200 #’s of debris. Total #’s was approx. 850 #’s trash for CC4C work and that is only what was reported.​
Volunteers
 such as Molly, Neickol, Damon, Mitch, Bill Rett, Judy Barnes work throughout the week yet never are report. 3-3-22 Ken Ling, Russ Cremer, Edwin Christwitz delivered 300 lbs of couches and easy chairs to dumpster. 3-5-22 Terri and Barbara walked a grocery cart back to Safeway along with 30 lbs. of cardboard. 3-6-22 Char, Terri, and Barbara picked up about 80 lbs. of trash along Old Highway 53 in the Crossroads Church and creek area. 3-7-22 Barbara gathered about 150 lbs of trash on East Lake Drive and on 3-8-22 Barbara and Terri loaded the trash into the pickup for removal. 3-9-22 Edwin picked and delivered 7 mattresses to mattress recycling. Jack and Edwin picked up around 100 lbs debris near Dollar Store. Neickol delivered an easy chair and about 150 lbs of trash to the dumpster. 
  Week of Feb. 23rd to March 2nd 2022.    2-23-22  70 #’s of debris in front of Kingfisher Mobile Home park picked up by Barbara.    2-24-22  Kathy Delorenzi and Barbara picked up 50 #’s debris plus two shopping carts.  2-25-22  Barbara picked up 30#’s trash plus unopened cans from Lamplighter Inn ditch.  2-27-22  Terri and Barbara returned two shopping carts and 20 #’s litter.  2-28-22 Edwin and Barbara picked up 100 #’s trash and debris from Lamplighter  ditch plus they delivered three mattresses to Eastlake Landfill.   3-1-22 nine people:  Holger Jurgens, Pauline Pavon,  Mark Burger, Neickol Cook, Damon Reyes, Amy Hammock, Barbara Christwitz, Jean Gilardoni, Mark Steinberg all helped to pick up 740 #’s debris that Jean took to the dump for $23.80.   Total  debris for week:  est.  1,010  #’s trash and two shopping carts.  Also a total of three mattresses.   Neickol Cook has a full truck load of metal recycling.   Neickol and crew cleaned and painted picnic tables at Highlands Park.  Mitch and Vicki clean regularly along Rumsey Road and Old Highway 53.   Molly Lang and others clean regularly along major roadways


2-23-2022 
This past week Edwin took four mattresses to Eastlake landfill. Mitch worked 2 hours on Lakeshore Dr. both sides. Barbara worked around Kingfisher entrance on Old Highway 53  hauling off a carpet and blanket full of debris. Barbara also checked on Joseph Wand’s land on Sulphur Bank Road. Ten Americorps workers plus NCO’s Tammy Alakszay and Viciki, Jodie, Barbara from CC4C, and two students with Upward Bound—Arecelli and ? (numbering 16 people in all) worked on Dam Road and Hwy 53 on Presidents’ Day, 2-21-2022. Also on 2-21-2022 Barbara received $20 for CC4C from a man who supports CC4C because of the work that Alan Markowski does at Anderson Marsh keeping that area clean.  Perla and Barbara picked up along Burns Valley walking a Safeway cart from Vista Street to Safeway on 2-22-2022.   Americorps workers came from the following states: Florida, Texas, West Virginia, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, Michigan (2), Minnesota, Colorado. The leader of the team is Maddie Eiler at 202 956 8855. People like Molly Lang and Neickol Cook work regularly without reporting their yields.​

2-16-2022  Mitch reported working 1 and ½ hours and picking up 1 and ½ highway bags.   Vicki reported working for three hours on the highway and picking up three bags of highway trash along with Peter Trutwin as  a helper.  Vicki and Peter gathered up 11 filled highway bags  plus pallets from the Adopt A Highway 2-12-2022 Adopt A Hwy day.   Participants for Adopt A Highway were  Barbara Christwitz, Nicole LaBarge, Bill , Mark Burger, Mitch Markowitz, Jodie Westphal,  Larry Williams, Neva Castro.   CC4C picked up roughly 500 lbs. of trash.   Terri and Barbara returned a Safeway cart with 30 #’s of cardboard in it.  Barbara cleaned behind Pomo School and pulled out about 50 #’s of metal.  Khristina Rinoldi/Sanchez and Donald Cervelli and Neickol's daughter worked with Neickol near Davis St.  as well as Highlands Park and cleaned up about a hundred #’s.   Barbara has worked about an hour a day on computer cleaning up both minutes and receipts from past seven years.    Undoubtedly others  work hard without recognition such as Cynthia Field.
 2-12-2022 We collected about a dozen bags of trash this morning, thanks to the good work of everyone--Nicole LaBarge and Bill Toupaul of Hope Center, Mark Burger, Larry Williams, Mitch Markowitz, Neva Castro, Jodie Westphal, Barbara Christwitz, Peter Thomas and Vicki Crystal.    See the photos of the signs, most of which will be placed on Sulphur Bank Road,  made by residents of Hope Center.

2-2-2022  This past week six mattresses were taken to Eastlake landfill by Edwin and Jack. 1-26-2022 , in Neickol’s huge red truck, Neickol, Terri, and Barbara went to Eastlake Landfill with 1,280 lbs. of debris from Joseph Wand’s Sulphur Bank land. 1-27-2022 picked up litter along Lakeshore Dr. including about 50 lbs of bottles left at Woodland and Lakeshore. 1-28-20222 Edwin helped men with about 1000 lbs of debris from Clearlake Park and Barbara and Terri picked up 20 lbs around creek bed behind post office and near Mullen and W. 40th. 1-29-2022 Barbara and Terri walked a grocery cart back to Safeway and picked up 30 lbs of garbage. 1-30-2022 Barbara and Terri checked out Sulphur Bank Road at Joseph Wand’s and picked up trash on Arrowhead and Country Club Dr. on the way. Found three mattresses to be recycled. 1-31-2022 Edwin and Barbara picked up the mattresses along with one at Recycling Center near $ Store. Barbara and Terri checked and photographed 4th Street where Raven, Nijol, and Rose had cleaned up. Vicki walked along her neighborhood streets picking up two bags of trash. Jean, Mark, Terri, and Barbara picked up about 200 lbs of trash along Sulphur Bank Road for our usual 1st Tuesday of the month pick up. Poundage includes the mattress. Much debris remains on SB Road gullies, but the road looks pretty good. 2-2-2022 Steering meeting for an hour is work plus 5 lbs of litter on Burns Valley Road. Neickol Cook works with crews to clean but rarely reports on the minutes. Cynthia Field also works regularly in the Avenues and does not report her work. No doubt there are many unsung heroes making Clearlake a cleaner place.

Edwin and Jack delivered 5 mattresses, Vicki worked over 5 hours with Clean CA grant  meetings, Barbara often works on the phone.   Mitch worked on old hwy 53, Terri worked with Barbara almost every day.  Neickol Cook along with Champagne Leubner who needs community service hours gathered debris from Joseph Wand’s Sulphur Bank property.  So far two dump loads have been removed.   1-19-22  Barbara and Terri  10 #’s from streets   1-20-22  NCO Building Homes, Building Lives team along with Tim  Williams, Alan Markowski, Mitch Markowitz, Barbara and Terri cleaned about 50 #’s debris from Austin Park and Lamplighter and Austin Park   1-21-22 10 #’s along streets by Barbara and Terri  1-22-22  Barbara and Perla pick up #200 lbs.  behind IGA and medical building and Adam came for the metal1-24-22  Neickol and Edwin took #200 lbs. from Wand’s land to dumpster    1-25-22   Barbara went to 4th St. to take photos of Tandoc land 1-26-22  Terri, Neickol, and Barbara went to dump with 1280 lbs. of debris from Joseph Wand’s debris  plus Barbara picked up 50 #’s at Youth Center dumpster
1-19-2022 reports
On  1-12-2022 and 1-17-2022  Jodie Westphal picked up 40 lbs. of trash each day. 1-12 and 14-2022  Mitch Markowitz worked along Old Highway 53 between Hwy 53 and Lakeshore Dr.  for around 100 lbs. of trash.  Terri and Barbara walked Burns Valley Road taking back grocery carts and picking up 30 lbs.  of trash.  1-16-2022  Edwin , Raven, Barbara, and Terri met with Candace and Sal Tandoc about their property needs.   In honor of Martin Luther King Day,  1-17-22  Upward Bound volunteers from LL High School and CC4C cleaned 500 lbs. on Sulphur Bank and North Dr. and Lori A., Terri, Barbara, and City of Clk. Public Works helped haul it away.   Neickol Cook and crews work regularly on Dam Road and Siegler Creek near LL High School  for about 500 lbs. this past week.,  Molly Lang, Bill Rett, and Judy Barnes work regularly and average 200 lbs. a week.   Undoubtedly many unsung heroes work without recognition. 
1-12-2022
Neickol Cook and Damon Reyes have been leading clean ups on Birch Ave., Boyles Ave., behind Adventist Health, behind Olympic Laundromat, Ridge Road, behind Safeway, Arrowhead and BurnsValley Road, Palmer, Modoc, Sulphur Bank Road, Oak St. to 7th St., 6th to 12th Streets, Lakeshore Drive, San Joaquin, and Dam Road. Neickol usually puts in 5 hour days on the days they work. Estimate of 100 lbs. Of debris each working day at 4 to 5 days a week.
Terri and Barbara disposed of a children’s pool and stroller from Burns Valley Road on 1-6-22 for about 50 #’s of debris. 1-8-22 Bertie Copeland, Tate, Terri R., Barbara C., Holger J., and Jodie Westphal all helped out on Adopt A Highway day which yielded at least 7 large Cal Trans bags of trash for about 250 #’s of debris 1-10-22 Juan, Terri, and Barbara cleaned for two hours along Olympic and Burns Valley Road yielding about 40 #’s trash, 1-12-2022 picked up 25#’s along Burns Valley and Arrowhead Roads.
Edwin delivered at least five mattresses to recycling this past week.
Molly Lang and Mitch Markowitz and undoubtedly others work regularly at their ‘favorite’ places to keep clean.


CC4C's went on vacation for the most part between Christmas and New Years, although Terri and Edwin cleaned in front of the theater  (30 #'s)  over the holiday.  1-3-2022 Terri and Barbara returned carts to Safeway by walking from Vista to Safeway and back.  They picked up 30 #'s trash as well.   1-4-2022  Sulphur Bank Road First Tuesday comprised Jean Gilardoni,  Mark Steinberg, Holger Jurgens, Terri Richardson, and Barbara Christwitz picking up about 200 lbs. of debris.   Neickol Cook worked with a group of volunteers on Old Highway 53 and Brittainy, Mike Sorrell,  and Binky worked in the 2nd and 3rd Street areas.  Molly Lang cleaned about 100 lbs. of debris in her neighborhood.   There are doubtless many unsung heroes like Mitch Markowitz as well on Old Highway 53.

Barbara attended Zoom Abandoned Vehicle Abarement meeting on 12-15-21.  Terri and Barbara picked up trash under two city bridges equaling about 60 #'s.  12-18-21  Olympic Drive cleanups consisting of Allen Blumer, Nicole LaBarge, Allen Markowski, Rachel Collins, Vicki Crystal, Terri Richardson,  and Barbara Christwitz picked up about 300 #'s of trash.  Holger Jurgens, Jean Gilardoni,  and Austin picked up along Sulphur Bank Road in past week about 600 #'s of trash plus a dozen or so tires.  Terri and Barbara picked up 60 #'s of highway trash between Olympic and Polk streets on Highway 53.  Lisa McCoy cleaned in Burns Valley Creek-- about 40 #'s trash.  Edwin Christwitz delivered three full pick up loads (about 800 #'s) of trash from a yard on Vista Street .   Edwin also hauled five mattresses to landfill.

Edwin picked and delivered 7 mattresses this past week.  Barbara, Terri, Allen Blumer, Nicole LaBarge, Mitch Markowitz, Jodie Westphal,  picked up litter along Burns Valley Road, Lakeshore Dr.,  Sulphur Bank Road, Highway 53 for Adopt A Hwy  , and other spots  to equal approximately 2000 lbs. of debris,  the bulk of which occurred up on Sulphur Bank Road.  Thankfully Lake County Public Works in the form of Dave McKinney  

December 8, 2021
Vicki Crystal has spent many hours with both a person who wishes to include CC4C in his will and on the state grant called Clean CA.   Edwin Christwitz has delivered at least 9 mattresses to Eastlake Landfill.  Jean Gilardoni delivered and paid for  two trailer loads at 700 lbs. each,  both of which came from mostly Sulphur Bank Road. Workers on Sulphur Bank Road included Austin Fredrickson, Jean Gilardoni, Mark Steinberg, Terry and Dan Roy,  Mark Burger, Holger Jurgens, Pauline Pavon, Barbara Christwitz, and Terri Richardson.   Serveral people stopped to extend appreciation and a few drivers  donated money to the cause.   Brittainy and Michael cleaned on Polk Street area of highway.  Terri and Barbara cleaned two days on East Lake Drive which yielded two pick up loads (about 600 lbs.).    Terri and Barbara also  cleaned about 40 #'s near 40th and Lakeshore Dr.   These were reported clean ups.   We know others work hard without recognition.

Jodie Westphal cleaned on Highway 53 on both 11-27-21 and 11-30-21 for a total of 4 1/2 hours and 3 trash bags.   Molly and Larry Lang cleaned along Old Highway 53 which yielded two pick up loads of trash.  Mitch Markowitz also cleans Old Hwy 53 regularly between Lakeshore Drive and Highway 53.   Terri and Barbara bicycled to and from Sulphur Bank Road to inspect Joseph Wand's property.  Edwin and Barbara picked up two mattresses on Sulphur Bank Road on the Clearlake Oaks side.  Barbara and Terri, for about  4 hours  picked up a total of approximately 100 #'s of litter throughout the week near the post office, creek bed, Country Club Road, and 40th Street near the cigarette store.  Neickol and Damon work regularly but there is no report from this past week.

Jodie Westphal picked up two highway bags, approx.  30 #'s each near 18th Ave.   Sunday afternoon,  Perla, Terri, and Barbara picked up a large pick up load of dumpsite at Country Club and 15th Street, approx.  300 lbs.   11-22-21 Terri, Jean Gilardoni, Brenda Pier, and Barbara picked up along Sulphur Bank Road approx.  400 #'s.   11-22 and 24-2021    Molly and Larry Lang  picked up 1/2 dozen or more bags along Old Highway 53 approx.  200 lbs.  Edwin and Barbara picked up bags filled by Steve Morgan at Sonoma and Peony Streets.   Christwitz's also picked up two mattresses on Sulphur Bank Road on the Oaks side.   Others pick up trash regularly without recognition.   Neikol?  Damon?

Mitch cleaned up 2 big bags, 80 pounds. Old Hwy 53 between Lakeshore Dr. and Crossroads Church. Ed seven mattresses.  Barbara, Columba, Alejandro, Jodi, and Terri worked on Saturday, Nov. 13th for Adopt A Hwy picking up 5 bags, about 200 lbs.. NCO day, 11-16-21 was a success at the creek, with 6 volunteers each filling a feed bag, about 80 lbs.  Jodie picked up on Nov. 16th, another two bags on hwy, about 50 lbs.. Neickol and Brittany have been working on Dam Road. Barbara picked up about 10 lbs. along Rumsey Road 11-10-21, Barbara and Terri cleaned under bridge near Redbud Library about 20 lbs. 11-11-21. Three bags at post office about 25 #’s picked up by C & S waste who showed up at perfect moment to take the trash. Barbara and Terri bicycled to Sulphur Bank Road to check on Parcel 5 which is not finished. Edwin returned grocery cart on Vista Street. Barbara reported abandoned vehicle on Kabul and Lakeshore as well as grocery carts. Cynthia has been cleaning in her neighborhood in the Avenues as well as Lakeshore Dr. and 18th Ave. near Redbud Hospital. 1–17-2021 Barbara and Terri picked up 100#’s on Old Hwy between Four Corners and Austin Drive.

Edwin picked and delivered to recycle six mattresses.  About a dozen mattresses were collected at Nov. 6th Mattress Recycling Event where Barbara, Edwin, and Vicki sat from 10 am  to 4 pm.    Jodie Westphal picked up 40 #'s of highway trash.   Barbara and Terri picked up 40 #'s of highway and Old Hwy./Lakeshore trash.  Barbara and Terri also spoke at length with a young man on Hale Street who needs brush hauled away.  Barbara picked up 10 #'s trash along Rumsey Rd.   Mitch, Molly, and Neickol also regularly pick up trash along with others who don't report their volunteer work.

Terri and Barbara picked up neighborhood trash plus Sulphur Bank Road trash and along highway to Anderson Marsh amounting to approx. 500 lbs. throughout the week.  Jean Gilardoni and Mark Steinberg picked up and delivered around 800 lbs. from Sulphur Bank Road.   Also Pauline, Holger, Terri, Barbara, Jean, and Mark all worked on Sulphur Bank Road on Nov.  2nd, the monthly clean up day for Sulphur Bank.  11-3-21  Edwin and Barbara picked up three mattresses.  Others such as Mitch Markowitz,  Neickol Cook, Judy Barnes, Bill Rhett, and Neickol Cook work on various neighborhoods throughout Clearlake.
October 27th, 2021
Edwin delivered 4 mattresses to landfill.  Terri and Barbara cleaned Burns Valley Creek above the creek which had water flowing through.  Also Terri and Barbara walked along Vista, Olympic, and Burns Valley Road picking up about 40 #'s of trash.  Neickol, with a crew, collected a mountain of tires from out of Clear Lake--estimated at around 75-80 tires.   Mitch Markowitz cleans regularly along Old Highway 53 between Lakeshore Drive and Highway 53.  Molly, Judy, and Rhett clean in their neighborhoods.  Jean Gilardoni and Mark Steinberg help load and deliver debris from Sulphur Bank Road to landfill.   Many others clean regularly but do not report their dates and amounts.
October 20th, 2021
Edwin delivered 8 mattresses total. Metal run, moved 9 litter barrels to fire dept behind the CC4C dumpster.     Neickol Cook has been picking up tires out of Clear Lake with a crew and she has photographed a mountain of tires which she picked up.   Between Oct. 6th and Oct. 18th Holger Jurgens, Rachel Collins, Terri Richardson, and Barbara Christwitz picked up and sorted metals, tires, and wood from the Borax LLC at 12740 Sulphur Bank Road.   Joseph Wand, co-owner contributed $360 to CC4C to give in gift cards to helpers.   In this past week alone,  five CC4C people picked up approximately 1500 #’s of debris from Sulphur Bank dumpsite.   10-20-21 Terri, Edwin, and Barbara went to the dumpsite behind and east of the post office in Burns Valley Creek bed.   They picked up a mattress as well as a heaping pick up load of  debris for an estimate of 400 lbs.  Glad to get the mattress before the rains.    Jodie Westphal picked up a bag of trash from Highway 53 on Oct. 14th    weighing around 30 #’s.   Others undoubtedly work hard without recognition.   A group from Hope Center has recently adopted Olympic Avenue and the NCO office near Olympic Ave.  has volunteered to clean the creek bed with CC4C people.

Among Terri Richardson, Perla and Yessenia Rodriguez, Barbara Christwitz, Holger Jurgens, and Rachel Collins,  they picked up, sorted, raked, and piled around 1400 #'s of debris from 12740 Sulphur Bank Road owned by Borax Lake LLC.   Others have been working diligently in other areas of Clearlake

Terri Richardson and Barbara Christwitz picked up approx. 460 #'s of trash in the past week from Burns Valley Creek and along Olympic Dr.  Yessenia, Terri, and Barbara picked up around 200 #'s of highway trash over two days.  Edwin picked up two mattresses from Sulphur Bank Road.  Neickol Cook and crew have been picking up literally tons of trash and tires from Clear Lake lakeshore.  Others such as Molly, Judy, Rhett, Mitch, Amorylis, and Jodie Westphal also continue to pick up trash.

Work Reports: Vicki Crystal picked up three huge orange bags (approx. 100 lbs.)  filled with trash along her morning walk route.   Cynthia Field picked up ½ a pick up load from the Avenues of about 150 lbs.   Neickol Cook has been working in Highlands Park among other places.  9-24-21 Barbara picked up about 60 lbs of trash behind  and east of Pomo School.  Then Sat. 9-25-21 Terri and Barbara picked up 50 lbs.  on Burns Valley Road and under the bridge, 9-26-21 Barbara picked up another 20 lbs.   Monday 27th Barbara and Edwin  got 650 lbs from neighbor, Holly. 9-28-21 Barbara met officers Lee Lambert and Garrett Copas for a tour of the Borax Lake LLC Parcel #5 massive dumpsite.  Leonard’s Hauling may take on that job.   Edwin delivered 2 mattresses.   Others such as Molly Lang, Judy Barnes, and Bill Rett clean regularly in their neighborhoods.

September 22nd, 2021
Neickol has been supervising workers and distributing at least $150 worth of  gift cards to workers from the creek bed behind Foster Freeze in Lower Lake where both Jim Scholz of Clear Chamber of Commerce and our own Vicki Crystal both noted the terrible mess, consisting of several pick up loads of trash, recycling, metal--approximately 2000 pounds.   The area looks pristine as of today, 9-23-21 .    Barbara and neighbor Terri picked up two pick up loads,  one on Burns Valley Road east of Pomo School where the barricades were bypassed.   The other load was on the corner of  Acacia St and Burns Valley Road.   A refrigerator remains  but the carpets and other trash went into the dumpster.  9-19-21  Barbara and Terri used a rope and ladder on the very steep part of Highway 53 to get about a 50 pound bag of trash.  Very slow going.   9-22-21 Barbara and Terri walked along Burns Valley Road toward Redbud Library on a litter walk yielding about 30 pounds of trash.   Coastal Clean Up Day on 9-18-2021   was a huge success here in Clearlake what with Micheal McMurtrey’s high school Upward Bound 18 students helping out.   One neighbor came over with accolades and a $100 bill for the students.   Other workers that day included Dianna Brooks,  Larry and Molly Lang, Debi Sally, Akriti Wong, Bill Rett, Judy Barnes, Barbara Christwitz, Gary Lundgren, and others that I have forgotten.  Lake County Coastal Clean Up organized by Daniella Cazares  from Lake County Water Resources.    Vicki does regular litter walks along Old Highway 53 and Pond Road in her neighborhood.  Mitch Markowitz cleans regularly along Old Highway 53 between Lakeshore Drive and Highway 53.   Lang’s and Bill and Judy are also regulars in their respective neighborhood.  

September 15th, 2021
Vicki Crystal picked up five large bags equally about 100 lbs. along her Old Hwy 53 road.  Barbara and Edwin picked up about 50 lbs. along Dam Road Extension prior to Soapbox Derby.  Adopt A Hwy participants consisted of Larry Williams, Mark Burger, Jodie Westphal, and Barbara Christwitz yielding 5 CalTrans bags of about 200 lbs. total.  Molly Lang picked up shopping carts and contents of about 200 lbs.   Barbara has been picking up in the neighborhood--five shopping carts and about 200 lbs. of trash.  Neickol and friends have been working at Highland Park picking up trash and planting flowers.  Jean Gilardoni delivered 440 lbs. from Sulphur Bank Road at her expense to the dump.  Many others work hard without recognition.

September 8th, 2021  Neikol, Damon, Edwin, Cynthia, and Jean Gilardoni worked to clean trash and brush.  Cynthia worked especially on Dam Road Extension and Edwin delivered 7 mattresses.  Edwin delivered a truckload of about 300 lbs. to the CC4C dumpster.   Holger Jurgens, Jean Gilardoni, and perhaps another person worked on first Tuesday on Sulphur Bank Road picking up around 50 lbs. of trash. 

September 1, 2021  Neickol, Damon, Edwin, and Jean Gilardoni plus other workers cleaned trash and brush plus five mattresses.   Probably a pick up load of brush amounting to a couple hundred lbs.

August 2021:    CC4C Steering Committee took a break, for the most part,  from formal business meetings for the month of August;  hence, few specific work reports were recorded  although people continued to work especially in areas of Highlands Park,  Adopt A Highway,  and transporting mattresses to be recycled to the landfill.  An estimated 800 lbs. of trash were picked up  which included a record 18 bags from Highway 53 on Adopt A Highway day,  August 14, 2021.  August 1st,  Barbara picked up on Burns Valley Road near Redbud Library about 50#'s of wood which apparently had fallen from a truckload.  Aug. 2nd, Miles Cooley, Jenny O'Brien, and Barbara C. picked up about 20#'s of trash on Quarter Horse Lane in Lower Lake.  August 3rd, Jean Gilardoni, Holger Jurgens, Joshua, Dave Sena, and Barbara picked up 680 #'s of trash from Sulphur Bank Road.  August 25, 2021  Neickol, Damon, Edwin and workers cleaned trash and dumped in CC4C dumpster.  Edwin delivered five mattresses in two loads to landfill for recycling.  Edwin took Natasha with two truckloads to recycle.  Mitch Markowitz picks up Old Highway 53 between Lakeshore and the Highway from time to time,  each time yielding roughly least 50 lbs. of trash.   At least a dozen mattresses went to mattress recycling, complements of Edwin Christwitz,  in the month of August.

Last Monday, 7-26-21 Neickol Cook and George McKissick worked on Sulphur Bank Road and Gobbi desert which yielded 0.47 ton of garbage.  Tuesday and Thursday 7-27-21 and 7-29-21  workers got full trailer truck load of brush from 7th and Oak with Melanie Whitlock, Candice, Neickol, Damon, Robert, James, and Barbara helping.  Jodie Westphal picked up 2 bags of trash  on highway 53.  Greg Freeland picked up 2 bags near Polk St.  Approximately 3/4 ton of garbage has been picked up this past week.  July 30th Neickol, Damon, and Barbara picked up about 300 #'s at 7th and Oak.  July 31st, Terri Richardson and Barbara Christwitz picked up about 50 #'s of trash on the highway near Anderson Marsh.
7-21-21
​Barbara periodically goes out early mornings with people who need community service hours.  Edwin took  6 mattresses  to recycling this week.  Barbara picked up two propane tanks 5 and 10 gallon respectively  and an empty  bucket of paint on Sulphur Bank, and cleaned at Golf Club. She also compiled and  sent in receipts to NCO.  Cynthia field cleaned on Olympic Dr. and Rumsey Road in the Safeway area yielding 4 bags of trash.  Neickol and Damon have been working at both Highlands and Redbud Parks.   They also picked up trash from a truck going up Davis Ave. which the drivers had not tarped their load.  Neickol took 78 tires to the recycle.  What with the lake being low,  tires are very accessible.   This past week’s poundage was around  one ton especially given the tires.

Thursday, July 1st Barbara, James, Cynthia and Mitch cleaned a stretch of Old Highway 53 which yielded a  very full pickup load plus 2 bags, totaling  over 400 pounds. Friday, July 2nd Barbara picked up about 15 lbs. of litter around the block including Pomo School as well as Saturday, July 3rd another 15 pounds between Sr. Center and Vista Street.  Monday, July 5th Molly Lang  disposed of about 30 pounds of garbage originating from the Alvita area.  Tuesday, July 6th Candace, Cynthia, and Barbara picked up about 150 pounds from  Sulphur Bank road.  Later Barbara picked up between Vista and Lakeshore Dr. about 30 pounds of trash.    Cynthia picked up at least two  bags from her neighborhood for another 50 pounds. Cynthia and Cass enjoy pickups.  Wednesday, July 7th Barbara and Candace picked up 30 pounds of trash in the Vista Street to Lakeshore Dr. area.   Edwin delivered 5 mattresses to Eastlake Recycling.

David Sena cleaned and Brenda Pier hauled garbage from Sulphur Bank Road plus the junked and burned car was hauled off.   Approximately 80 lbs. of trash.  
Edwin disposed of two mattresses (250 pounds)  which were too far gone for the landfill.  Edwin hauled several  dump loads (800 pounds)  mostly of brush from Gertha Clay’s 4th Ave which is now completed. 
Barbara frequently goes out with Mendo Lake Alternative Service people for an hour or so in the early morning hours  before the heat of the day. (500 pounds this past week) 
Mitch suggested a cleanup along old highway 53 between main Highway 53 and J & L Market.  Cynthia, James, Mitch, and Barbara collected a pick up load  plus two large garbage bags of approximately 250 pounds of trash all together on 7-1-21 between 6 and 8:30 am. ​

​Others continue to work without well-deserved recognition.   6-22-21 Cynthia finished upper lakeshore cleanup, and 6-21-21 filled her truck up on 4th Ave. and helped empty it. 6-24-21 Cynthia took a load of mostly car parts from 4th Ave./Wilkerson to the dumpster.    6-19-21 Barbara and James cleaned at Redbud Park and its shoreline while Cynthia cleaned shoreline near Austin Park. Barbara continues working  with Mendo Lake  Alternative Service people and cleaned the Dollar Store dumpster. $ Store employees have voiced their gratitude.     Barbara worked with Nicole Barger cleaning  under the Olympic Laundromat  bridge. Barbara happened on a plastic  bin of mostly commodities on Burns Valley and took  food  to Calvary Chapel. 
Ed got mattresses and worked at 4th Ave./Wilkerson  taking several pick up loads of trash and metal away from the Gertha site which is almost complete.   Neickol Cook was sited driving with truck heading east on Old Hwy 53 near J & L Market.  6-25-21 Barbara and Candace worked along Old Highway 53, including Mendo Mill  picking up several bags of trash.   Estimated amount of garbage this past week is roughly one ton of garbage what with the 4th Ave. clean up and Lakeshore cleanup.

6-16-21
Vicki picked up some bags along Rumsey Road  and Old Hwy 53. Cynthia did two days on the Soap Box trail from 18th Ave. to Woodland College yielding  bags of trash and an old  stove.   Cynthia also worked on  Adopt a Highway and  Hilltop Medical, along with 4th Ave  yielding a full pick up load. Barbara and Edwin  did some loads from 4th Ave. Barbara keeps working on Highway and at the Dollar Dumpster with James.Edwin and Jack did mattresses, delivering seven to land fill 6-16-21.  Participants on 6-11-21 Gertha and Oscar’s 4th Ave. property  were Barbara and Edwin, /Danny Oplinger, Rachel Silver Sky Collins, Dawn and Stewart Hummel/Miller.  Adopt A Hwy participants were Barbara, Cynthia, James, Rachel, and Dawn and we finished the entire stretch.  Jodie Westphal also picked up two bags on highway between 18th and Lakeshore Drive.  Lori Aitken regularly picks up along Olympic and Rumsey Road in front of theater.    Many others continue to work without well-deserved recognition.    Probably picked up around 600 lbs. of trash this past week. ​

Vicki picks up trash  on her walks along Old Hwy 53 and Rumsey Road. Cynthia did hospital to Hwy 53,  by Blue Lakes, and the Walmart parking lot perimeter, about 4 bags total. Ed did 4 mattresses and two truck loads of garbage. Barbara has been picking up litter with James at 6AM every morning.  Lots of cleaning of Dollar Store dumpster and dumpsters behind the pet store.  Barbara and Edwin did 300 pounds so far out at 4th Ave.  Hailey and husband have cleaned over 30 bags worth at Sulphur Bank, J&L Market area, and Old Airport Road.  Molly Lang has also been working on area garbage.  This past week’s estimate is about 1200 lbs. of garbage  and the four mattresses.   Many others continue to work without recognition.   ​

Vicki picked up  2 bags along Old Hwy and Rumsey Road.  Edwin  and Jack—six mattresses, Ed one dump run. Cynthia picked up 4 bags from Phillips to 40th from about 26th.   Barbara, Nicole LaBarge, Ruben Zamora, and Candice Kimbley  all picked up along Polk Street and Olympic.   James Jiambra and Barbara as well as Candice Kimbley have been working in Burns Valley Mall.   Group of 9 people--Candice, three Mormon Missionaries, Barbara, Holger, Jean Gilardoni, Hailey Bryant, and Troy  picked up along Sulphur Bank Road on June 1st  and yielded two pick up loads.    Total weight this week was around 1000 pounds. ​

Edwin  and Jack took  nine mattresses to landfill. Edwin and Brad DeCoto  did five full pick up loads filling the dumpster with trash.  Cynthia picked up bags on Phillips Ave.  Barbara has worked with Candace with Alt Service on highway and Sulphur Bank Road. Hailey picked up a bag on Highway 53.   Jorge picked up a bag on Highway 53.  Vicki purchased magnet CC4C  signs.  Barbara has gone three times  to 5th Ave. to scout out a cleanup.  Land on 5th Ave. owned by Antoliy Kochedykov.     Mitch did 3 bags old Hwy 53 between youth center and the end. Molly and Troy  got a pickup load across from J&L market. Neickol works almost every day.   Rough estimate of 1 ton of refuse this past week.   ​

Service people.   Barbara and Brad cleaned for two hours 5-11-21 at Clearlake Post Office parking lot and in creek bed yielding 5 bags of trash.  Troy and Barbara cleaned behind Pomo School at Burns Valley Road 5-9 and 5-10 yielding 6 bags of trash.   Cynthia cleaned the  shoreline bird sanctuary in the Bay Area  for 3 hours. She worked around the hospital to Hwy 53.  Total 5 bags.   Highway 53  cleanup on Saturday, May 8th yielded 6 bags of trash thanks to Cynthia, Mitch, Barbara, and an unknown helper.     Edwin  and Jack took 6 mattresses to the landfill.

Ed, six mattresses, one load of brush, one load of recyclables, Barbara said the Oaks was a success, with a packed dumpster. Sulphur Bank Tuesday very fun and productive. Cynthia worked on lots on 40th and surrounding areas near 53—four bags. Vicki  put out a message in her area on email to pick up more, and some was picked up by neighbors.  Barbara continues with three to five alt-service people.  ​

April 16th,  Luis of San Rafael picked up the outboard motor from East Lake Drive for metal recycling.     Total East Lake Drive estimate in pounds is about 2000 lbs.    
Edwin delivered  some mattresses (maybe a dozen).  Cynthia cleaned for  a few hours at Walmart and the soap box road for a few hours, and Lake Mendocino for a few hours yielding approx.   100 lbs. of trash.

  Work reports :   Cynthia produced many      bags of litter. Edwin and Neickol emptied a trailer load, about 300 lb.  Vicki has been designing the April 28th event.  Barbara, Troy Nelson, two neighbor boys, and Neickol picked up a large trailer load from East Lake Drive,  about 500 pounds.   We are aware that others within CC4C are also working at cleaning up litter and their efforts go unreported.   A group called Conscious Neighbors of the Avenues led by Kevin Victorian is working in the Avenues of Clealake. ​

Cynthia did green waste work but little cleanup.  Vicki has been designing the April 28th event. Six of us worked for an hour behind the Burns Valley Mall, filling several bags.  Participants included Barbara and Edwin,  Alex and Columba, Wayne,  and Danny.   Approximately 500 pounds of litter was picked up this past week.    There are doubtless many others picking up trash whose efforts go unreported.   All clean ups are appreciated.

Edwin and Barbara picked up 3 mattresses. They are storing them until they may be accepted.  Barbara did an hour by Pomo school.   Ten bags of highway trash Saturday with a dozen helpers! Cynthia did cleanup with Iris in several locations, and also cleaned the Soap Box Derby stretch of road. (Upper Dam Rd). 3031 6th St was cleaned by  Robert Logue. Barbara spent hours on phone with a property transfer so the 93 year old owner won't have to clean the land.   Estimate 600 lbs. of refuse.    We know others have adopted areas to make Clearlake cleaner.

Edwin and Jack picked up 8 mattresses.   Cynthia and Ed got a truckload of trash along Seigler  Canyon Road.  Cynthia, Barbara, and Vicki cleaned up around Anderson Marsh as they walked.  Neickol and Raven have been working on Fifth Avenue for hire recently.

Tuesday, March 2nd, Sulphur Bank: Vicki Crystal (picked up 6 bags),    Barbara Christwitz. ,  Holger Jurgens, Jean Gilardoni, Edwin Christwitz, Jenney O’Brien, Andrew Houchins, Chris, Krista (commandeered) , helped with picking up approximately 600 lbs. of garbage.  Cynthia Field worked on  40 th  and 29 th Avenues,  Phillips and yielded about  5 bags.  Debi Sally and  Barbara cleaned up about two wheel barrow loads on Burns Valley Road.  Raven, Neickol,  Barbara,  and Steve Felder met at 5th Ave. lots to figure out where the lots begin and end.   Neickol and Raven are cleaning various  lots for hire.   Edwin has picked up six mattresses, four of  which need a proper home since landfill is not taking mattresses which are not in pristine condition and Diamond Recycling is looking for a new site.

21st Ave, Cynthia picked up 3 big bags, and some large items.  Barbara, with Jack Arnold picked up a car load of trash and a mattress on top of Sulphur Bank Road on 2-23-21.  Also Barbara picked up regularly on Burns Valley Road and about a wheel barrow load recently.   Karin Diaz buried three five gallon buckets of rotting meat in the orchard behind Grocery Outlet.  Neickol is leading a group on Toyon and Peony Streets for clean up in Clearlake Park.      Edwin and Jack picked up and delivered 10 mattresses.  Note that the recycling center on Lake Street near cemetery will be re locating and mattresses cannot be taken there for the time being.    Total poundage for this last week is estimated at 400 lbs. and that is only what has been reported.   Others in the area work with no recognition.

Wayne and Barbara picked up one  bag  during Adopt A Highway and Cynthia and Barbara picked up one bag on 2-17-21.  Approx. 60 pounds of highway trash.    Cynthia cleaned Phillips with Iris (who is very competent and motivated) for  3 hours and yielded a truckload for about 250 lbs. of trash.  Work strategies are  evolving.      Barbara cleaned Tuesday on at Burns Valley Rd--about 50 lbs,      The library bridge stayed clean for two days in a row and may be  due to Barbara's reaching out to Bobbie and Jacob.  Edwin delivered  about 20 mattresses to recycling  this past week.

Barbara and Karin Diaz, on 2-10-21  cleaned under the Library bridge. Edwin  and Jack got 7 mattresses.  Monday, 2-8-21  About three pick loads of garbage by Cynthia, Molly, and Neickol  Friday, 2-5-21  Danny Oplinger,  Anne Pettigrew, Barbara Christwitz cleaned and picked up a pick up load of garbage  on Sulphur Bank Road. County Code Enforcement will pick up tires, couch, and boat.  Cynthia picked up around 29th Ave, and other spots. 40th and Phillips. 18th hospital area and highway 53. Dorothy helped her twice, filling a trailer, and back of two trucks with green waste.   Approximately 1500 lbs. of garbage was collected this past week.

Sulphur Bank Road clean up peopled by Holger Jurgens, Pauline Pavon, Jean Gilardoni, Cynthia Field, Andy Houchins, Barbara and Edwin Christwitz, Brenda Pier, Neickol with Elijah Cook:  Cynthia and Andy  placed about   200 lbs of refuse in the  dumpster. Barbara, Edwin, and Brenda picked up approximately  14 bags, much of which were filled by Holger and Pauline which weighed in at around  500 lbs.   Neickol’s  5 bags weighed about 150 lbs.    Other clean ups this past week included various spots such as along Burns Valley Road, behind police station, Peony and Arrowhead Streets, and various other  helpers such as Amorylis and Devon who clean the acreage between Meadowood and Davis Street.  Barbara and Edwin presented a thank you plaque to Amorylis and Devon for cleaning.  Edwin also used the dumpster for a  couch that they had found dumped.  Neickol  cleans regularly along Clear Lake’s  shoreline.  Barbara and Karen Diaz picked up under bridge near library.

When one counts in the couch,  I would estimate our group cleaned up around 1000 lbs. of garbage this past week.   Sulphur Bank road was a big deal yesterday.

Cynthia has posted several Please do not litter signs. Barbara and Edwin  cleaned under the Memory Ln. bridge approx.  60 lbs. of trash and clothing. Holger and Pauline picked up about  160 lbs on Sulphur Bank. Saturday 1-23-21  Americorps supervised by  Tammy Alakszay, plus Vicki,  Barbara, Cynthia, Iris, Larry Nakamura, and Wayne picked up  about 300lbs. on Old Highway 53, Dam Rd,  plus nine highway bags.  On Thursday and Friday, Jodie Westphal cleaned on Highway and filled four bags.   Cynthia cleaned around Westamerica complex, 6 bags. Ed got  8 mattresses total.  Ed did some brush cutting.

Cynthia worked two stints near Big O Tires and one loop around Phillips which yielded about 80 pounds of trash. Cynthia laundered some clothing from a pick up site.  She gave the clothing to a Thrift shop.  Barbara worked to pick up  50 pounds of trash with Lori and Wayne on old 53 between Olympic and Lakeshore.  Karin, Lori, and Barbara picked up trash under the bridge near Redbud Library Approx.  25 lbs.    Neickol is working some paid clean up jobs as well as volunteer work.   Worksites include Toyon and Highlands.  Sulphur Bank road bag site got picked up by Ed and Jack.  The  approx. 200 pounds of trash was bundled up and made ready for pick up by Pauline and Holger.   Edwin and Jack also picked up two mattresses along Sulphur Bank Road.
 Ed helped empty 3 truckloads in our dumpster, and delivered  12 mattresses with Jack, plus 5 more Tuesday as a mattress  recycle run as well as other recyclables.

Adopt A Highway was 1-9-21 and participants included Columba, Tim, Cynthia, Jim, Jody, Barbara, and Wayne.  Five Cal Trans bags were filled during that period.   
 Cynthia cleaned for two days on Dam Road Extension where the  Soap Box Derby was held last year.  Many good souls yelled "Thank You!" Cynthia found hidden garbage as well.  Eric will help Cynthia dismantle a sofa today.   Also, Cynthia ordered five "Please do not litter" metal signs. Thank you Cynthia. We forgot to ask her if she wants any money for buying them. (Place this on the 1-20 agenda) Barbara worked with Timothy from Hope Center on a ditch off of  Sulphur Bank Road.  Even though short staffed, Public Works picked up the load of trash.   Timothy wants to help clean his neighborhood.  Unhoused Eric helped clean near $ Store  and will work with a supervisor in exchange for a gift card.  Also, Barbara and Alisha worked on Burns Valley Road.  Neickol is cleaning Toyon.     On 1-14-21  Cynthia and Barbara will assess the area for possible dumpster request from Code Enforcement. Ed helped empty 3 truckloads into  our dumpster, and delivered 12 mattresses to recycling with Jack.   Pauline, Holger, Jean, and Tim Williams worked 1-10-21 on Sulphur Bank Road and picked up about ½ a pick up load of trash.Molly has been cleaning on Old Highway 53 between the store and the school.
Approximately  600 pounds of trash was picked up this past week by CC4C people.

Lori Aitken and Barbara worked in and near Burns Valley Creek bed Monday, 1-4-21, picking up about 100 lbs. of trash.  Tuesday, 1-5-21, nine people picked up over 500 pounds of trash on Sulphur Bank Road.  Helpers where Pauline, Holger, Jean Gilardoni, Mark, Mark Burger, Vicki Crystal, Cynthia Field, Barbara Christwitz, and Tim Williams. Neickol with Damon and Moso have done a few truckloads, approximately 200 lbs.  near Pomo School and Highlands Park and keeps finding tires in the Lake.   Ed did  5 mattresses.  Cynthia cleaned up approximately 100 pounds of  misc junk around her home near 29th and  Emerson. and around Austin  and 53,  and one trip to the dumpster.  Of course there are others out and about picking up trash who we have no reports.

Barbara and Iris picked up three Cal Trans bags on highway. Barbara and volunteer cleaned on Burns Valley Road behind Pomo School. Pauline, Holger, Mark Burger, Iris, Neickol, Damon, Melissa, Jameen, Edwin, and Barbara picked up six pick up loads on Sulphur Bank Road.  Edwin picked up and delivered eight mattresses up into the recycle trailer. Also, Cynthia gathered several pickup loads from 22nd St.  area. Bob Kraft and metal man only want metal over about 20 pounds for  recycling. Barbara will ask Bob Kraft for more exact poundage. Neickol has been scouring the lake shore and picked up  lots of tires, which she is getting a permit to take to recycling.  Approx. garbage weight from this past week:   2,500 lbs.   Note that this report does not report the unsung heroes cleaning up every day without recognition.   Thank you one and all.

Barbara talked with owners of land behind Meadowood  about blocking off access. Pete Lousalot may help with front loader. Barbara's working with Alicia Dennis there. Monday another Alt service person helped Barbara with bagging garbage on Burns Valley Road. Another person named Karen helped with babysitting for  Erin , and Karen majored in child development and loves the children. Barbara is getting many calls from absentee landowners, and connecting them with possible cleanup workers. Barbara has done ten hours at least of phone time. 300 pounds Thursday. 100 Monday, Tues 50 pounds. Ed did 16 mattresses last week and has more. Cynthia did two full truckloads of bags of heavy garbage. Neickol is picking up tires, etc.

Neickol has been cleaning shorelines behind Griffith  Furniture and behind other homes close to Griffith.   Neickol and crew also cleaning in the Borax Lake area.   Barbara has led clean ups on Polk Ave., Burns Valley Creek bed, and land between Meadowood Nursing Home and 7th Day Adventist School.    Cynthia Field has been cleaning on 36th Ave.  Barbara has cleaned up behind  and east of Pomo School.   Adopt A Highway pick up happened on its regular 2nd Saturday of the month,  namely 11-14-20 and about   six people picked up seven bags of highway trash that day.     Estimate of tonnage of trash over  this two week plus period of time is  one ton.

Cynthia has been working on Phillips Ave., 40th Ave.,  plus land near Woodland College.  Barbara reports two pick up loads extracted from Burns Valley Creek bed on Nov. 7th and 10th  with the aid of Karin Diaz, Troy Nelson, Wayne, Gary, Cynthia, Jack, and Barbara.  Wayne, Gary, and Barbara gathered four CalTrans  bags of trash from between Olympic Ave. and Polk St.    Barbara routinely picks up behind Pomo School.   Similarly   Molly Lang, Mitch Markowitz, Amorylis and Devon, Lori, Bill and Judy, and others keep particular favorite areas clean.   Neickol and Damon have adopted Highlands Park (note the newly painted tables done by Neickol.)  Estimated tonnage in the past few weeks is:   600 lbs.  of trash and Edwin delivered 20 plus mattresses in the past several weeks.  City of Clearlake has been working to remove trash along Sulphur Bank Road and may place cameras at entrances to the road.   Also the City of Clearlake has been working to remedy the dumping that has been going on at the East Lake Drive area as well.

re:  Adopt A Highway--Vicki Crystal, Peter Thomas, Barbara Christwitz, and Greg (recently discharged from hospital recruit)   were able to clean the whole CC4C west side of highway 53 from Lower Lake to 18 Ave. picking up six highway bags of trash. 
Vicki cleans up along Rumsey Road during her morning walks.    Barbara picks up along Burns Valley Road and Lakeshore Drive during her bicycle rides,   Edwin Christwitz and Jack Arnold picked up at least 15 mattresses for recycle.   Eleven helpers, namely Alejandro, Columba, Edna Day, Cynthia Field, Neickol Cook, Damon Reyes, Gary Lundgren, Alan Markowski, and Marion Kaiser  helped fill a dumpster load on 10-12-20 at 6162 Lakeside Court.    We will fill  another dumpster load  within the next week as well from the same residence.   All told  we have cleaned up approximately  2 1/2 tons of garbage in these past two weeks.   Thank you to all people who regularly clean such as Molly Lang,  Bill Rhett and Judy Barnes, Mitch Markowitz, Amoryllis and Devon,  Dave Hughes, Jodie Westphal, and Neickol Cook who has been working hard on Sulphur Bank Road and even demanded people put the garbage that they had dumped out back in the pick up escorted the people to the landfill.    10-15-20  Jodie Westphal, Mormon Elders Maca, Peterson, Knowlton, Mark Burger, Columba, and Barbara C.  all worked for a few hours to fill the dumpster ½ way.

Edwin reported having delivered 17 mattresses to the recycling center.   He took a tumble in the process and fell about 6 feet hurting his back and rib.   Good news is that he is recovering fairly well especially if he doesn't move quickly or strain himself.    
Neickol reported working on Sulphur Bank Road after having been hospitalized in Walnut Creek due to an abscessed tooth.

Bill Rett and Judy Barnes clean regularly on streets for about a one mile radius near their home;  Mitch Markowitz cleans on Old Highway 53 in the Mendo Mill area, Amorylis and Devon clean on Old Highway 53 near Davis stop sign,  Dave Hughes and Vicki Crystal both clean separately on their morning walks on Old Highway 53 near the egg ranch and along Rumsey Road.   Edwin Christwitz and Jack Arnold took 19 mattresses to be recycled; Barbara tries to keep up with cleaning the dumping which happens often on Burns Valley Road behind Pomo School playground.  9-26-20 Vicki Crystal, Tim Williams, Gary Lundgren, and Barbara Christwitz picked up 5 bags of highway 53 trash between  Old Highway at school bus yard and about ½ miles south towards Olympic.   Neickol Cook continues to paint picnic tables at Highlands Park but has suffered a set back with an abscessed tooth which has required hospitalization.  Supervisor Bruno Sabatier is continuing to draft  a proposal for Lake County which would waive dump fees when people voluntarily work to clean trash along our county’s  roadways.

8 mattresses recycled thanks to Edwin Christwitz and Jack Arnold;  Cynthia Field cleaned around her neighborhood and bags went into her own trash bins; Edwin took a packed trailer and pick up load of brush and wood to Quackenbush which weighed approximately 600 lbs.;  Neickol has been painting picnic tables at Highlands Park and cleaning a terrific mess, including a washing machine,  from behind Foster Freeze.   Barbara  cleaned up two pick up loads (plus) on Burns Valley Road behind and east of Pomo School.  We are aware that many others like Molly, Mitch, Dave Hughes, Jodie Westphal, and others continue to clean as well.   Trash and garbage from this past week approximated 500 lbs.

Highway 53 filled two Cal Trans bags from between 18th Ave. and Lakeshore Dr., Cynthia cleaned on the Dam Road Extension road where the soap box derby had been held and got about 10 bags of trash plus a shopping cart, Vicki cleaned  neighborhood trash cans which had been turned over and scattered  by the wind.   Neickol Cook and Damon Reyes have been painting picnic tables at Highlands Park and cleaning up along Sulphur Bank Road.  Mason Morris has picked up about three trailer loads full of trash from behind Oleander Street.    Mark Burger showed up for Adopt A Highway on 9-12-20 since he hadn’t seen the memo to cancel due to poor air quality.   Edwin took 10 mattresses to recycling this past week.    Regulars who clean certain spots are Amorylis and DeVon, Dave Hughes, Jodi Westphal,  Molly Lang, Mitch Markowitz,  and  Ruth H.   An estimate for this past week is    400 lbs. of trash plus 60 cubic yards from behind Oleander St.

Neickol Cook has been working at Highlands Park painting the picnic tables, watering flowers, raking, and generally keeping  the park well cared for.    Neickol has also worked on Sulphur Bank road and will be  trimming branches near the curve of Arrowhead and Park on Lakeshore Drive.   Cynthia picked up six bags of trash along upper Dam Road and 18th Ave.,  Mason Morris of Oleander Street has begun  clean up in the mostly deserted area behind Peony and Oleander Streets .   His first two dump loads have totaled 2,200 lbs.    That area has decades of built up  refuse, including 23 junk cars, 9 RV’s, 1 boat, and three burnt out camper trailers.    City of Clearlake is presently working to open up Oregon Street in the area between East Lake Drive and Arrowhead.     There are many,   such  as  Amorylis, DeVon,  Molly,  Lori, Dave H., Vicki, Cynthia, Neickol, Barbara, Mitch, Jodie, Greg, Anne Pettigrew, and others  who have basically adopted certain areas and keep these areas up as well as  possible.    Estimate of  poundage for this past week is 2,500 lb. of trash.  Elliot freed up the chained garbage can at Redbud Hospital.

Barbara
and Edwin picked up garbage near Burns Valley Road behind Pomo School-one   pick up load.   Dennis Atkins, brother of Dennis, and Jack Arnold all helped Barbara remove  and dispose of a heavy carpet and carpet backing which was dumped behind Pomo School.   Greg Rippe has been cleaning up around Golden State Water Co. and near his home on Lakeshore Drive out in the Clearlake Park.   Edwin picked up and deposited 19 mattresses between Aug.  24th and Sept.  3rd, 2020.   We thank Amorylis, DeVon, Dave Hughes, Jodi Westphal, Mason, and Mitch Markowitz for their ongong work around the city.   Thank you Cynthia for taking away the garbage can near the hospital.   It was not getting used well.  Cynthia has also cleaned along both 18th Ave. and the part of Dam Road which was used for the soapbox derby.    Barbara placed a garbage bin on Burns Valley Road and it disappeared within two days.   No doubt Neickol and company have been working as well.    An estimate of 500 pounds of refuse was collected this past week.

Jodie Westphal has been heroic cleaning between Lakeshore and 18th Ave. on the west side of Highway 53.   She has cleaned up at least 14 Cal Trans bags of litter along that stretch in the past several weeks.   Cynthia has cleaned along 40 th Ave. and Phillips.   Vicki has cleaned along Old Highway 53 from her home near Pond Road and along Old Hwy 53 up to the Highlands Community/Sr. Center,   Edwin took 14 mattresses to the  recycling center in Lower Lake.   Lori and Barbara  spent all of 15 minutes cleaning up the grocery cart on Rumsey Road behind Safeway.   We simply got tired of driving past it.   Barbara cleans regularly on Burns Valley Road and on Sunday discovered a white van which turned out to be a stolen vehicle.  Dave Hughes has adopted the area where he daily  walks his dog,   Brian has asked to help with a clean up.   Neickol is out with a clean up crew on Sulpher Bank Road  on 8-24-20.       The estimate of pounds of trash from this report is:   800 lbs.  of trash

Jodie Westphal continues to pick up trash especially on the west side of Highway 53 between Lakeshore and 18th Ave, a portion which has never been adopted by any group.   So far she has picked up 7 CalTrans bags and asked for 6 more empty bags for the remainder of that portion of highway.    Cynthia Field continues to clean in areas near Valero and Speedy gas stations plus 18th and 40th Avenues.   The section of Old Highway 53 between Four Corners and Speedy gas station was cleaned this past week by Vicki, Lori A., and Barbara.    Edwin and Jack A.  delivered about 14 mattresses to the Lower Lake recycling yard.   Barbara and Edwin took a pick up load of trash from Burns Valley Road to the CC4C dumpster.   Approximately 500 lbs.  of trash were picked up this past week by the various trash projects.    Other people who work regularly in our community are Neickol, Mitch, Amorylis, David, Mitch, Ann Pettigrew, and Molly.    Doubtless, others too that I have forgotten.

Report from Amorylis:  area of corner of Davis and corner of old fifty three to the 7th Day Adventist School  across the vacant woodlands where David and Amorilys  patrol together every day to pick up trash and walk dogs for exercise and fire Protection and back around full circle block from Meadowood Nursing Home and down Austin and back up to Old 53 ending at Davis corner where they started.  Amorylis has adopted this portion of Old 53 square block surrounded by woodlands since 1990.  Approximately 30 lbs. of trash each time they go outBarbara goes out almost every morning from about 6:15 to 7:15 am and cleans Burns Valley Road , or Arrowhead, or Acacia, or Lakeshore Drive.    Approximately 30 lbs. of trash each day.
Edwin picked up 12 mattresses this past week and delivered them to recycling yard in Lower Lake
Vicki has been working on the videos for the elementary schools regarding recycling, reusing, and repurposing. 
Cynthia cleaned up yet again in the upper Lakeshore Drive area across from West America Bank.  She also finished up 18th Ave., a never ending project.  Approximately 30 lbs. of trash each time she goes out.
Neickol is cutting branches at curve on Lakeshore Drive near Modoc.  Also spiffing up with flowers, etc. at Highlands Park.

Vicki Crystal has been creating videos based on reducing, reusing, and recycling geared to first through third grade students.  The videos are meant to be broadcast to several hundred Lake County students as well as possibly students anywhere.   Cynthia has been cleaning along 18th Ave. area probably 50 lbs. of trash.   Edwin delivered 12 mattresses to mattress recycling this past week.   Lori A., Columba, Alejandro, and Barbara C.  cleaned Burns Valley Creek bed behind Clearlake post office and Davitas  dialysis enter two mornings, namely July 21st and July 22nd,  in a row yielding two pick up loads of trash and four grocery carts.  Approximately 200 lbs. of trash.   Edwin helped Molly empty several bags of trash in the past week or two.   Both Mitch Markowitz and Amorylis Camacho regularly clean two different sections of Old Highway 53.  Edwin and Barbara Christwitz were interviewed in depth about the Mattess Recycling Council which has been instrumental in disposing of used mattresses here in Lake County.

Molly Lang delivered two tires and a TV to recycling plus took 6 bags of trash to the CC4C dumpster.   Cynthia cleaned  areas near  the  hospital and  Highway 53.   Edwin took a large pick up load of recycling to the recycling yard.    Barbara cleaned on Burns Valley Road northeast of Pomo School and at the end of Acacia St.  and Edwin filled the pick up with all of the trash and deposited it the CC4C dumpster.   Neickol has been beautifying Highlands Park with flower beds.   Edwin delivered five mattresses to the mattress recycling yard in Lower Lake.   All told,  I estimate about 500 lbs. of refuse this past week and 600 lbs. of mattresses.  Note that tire amnesty is still available at the yard in Finley.

Vicki cleaned on Olympic Ave,  Rumsey Road, and Old Highway 53 and filled at least 4 bags of trash.   Barbara and Lori A.   cleaned under bridge in Burns Valley Creek bed and filled about three bags of trash,   Barbara cleaned between Highland Community/Senior Center and Vista Street,  Woodland Ave., sections of Lakeshore Drive and filled about six bags of trash.   Neickol has been raking, hauling away garbage,  and beautifying  Highlands Park  much to the happiness of Chelsea the director of  Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce.   No doubt there are others who have been working around town yet have not reported their work.

Past week work:
  Vicki  picked up about 20 lbs. of  trash along Rumsey Road working toward the Sr.  Center.   Cynthia  picked   up about 40 lbs. of trash along 40th Ave. and a loop between Walmart and 18th Ave.    Molly and Mitch picked up a TV across from Mendo Mill.  Edwin  picked up and  inserted 17 mattresses into the  mattress recycling  trailer.    We are waiting  for word of recycling yard to open up again  and  Lori reports that it is indeed open  again.

Vicki Crystal picked up three bags of trash totally at least 60 lbs.  She went along Rumsey Road to Olympic Dr.
Cynthia Field picked up four bags of trash and left them under our CC4C sign on the highway totaling about 80 lbs. of trash

Salinda worked with others and I am going to estimate 100 lbs. of trash since I did not get the location other than somewhere in Clearlake Park.

Fifteen other bags of trash at about 20 lbs. each much from the Dam Road area as well as near Mendo Mill,  Rumsey Road between the chicken ranch and Olympic Drive.   Cleaning and week whacking  at Highlands Park.    Workers have included Edwin Christwitz,  Cynthia Field, Vicki Crystal,  Salinda Lamar and her crew of young people,  Neickol Cook,  Raven and Salvador Gonzales.  6-20-2020

 Salinda has been working with others behind Burns Valley Mall,  Burns Valley Creek bed,  and near Highlands Park.    I estimate at least two  hundred pounds of  refuse.   Edwin picked up and delivered around 8 mattresses.   Cynthia and Edwin picked up 50 pounds of trash on Dam Road.    This would be for the week prior and including June 7th.

Work Reports:  Barbara and a helper cleaned  up of a pick up load of garbage dumped behind Pomo School.   Barbara found likely identification of the source of the garbage from a residence on 8th St. in Clearlake Park.   Mostly Cynthia with Barbara assisting we did Adopt A Hwy--we  picked up and filled  8 Cal Trans bags,  Edwin hauled 8 mattresses, Molly Lang cleaned  yet another shopping cart full of trash.   Cynthia Field cleaned Highway 53, 18th Ave. to 37th Ave.  
Estimated Garbage picked up - 750 lbs.   and the garbage was taken to the CC4C dumpster, mattresses to  yard in Lower Lake,   and Cal Trans picked up the 8 Cal Trans bags.

 Work Reports:  Larry Lang has been giving new life to our CC4C website. Thanks, Larry and Lori especially for your work on statistics for the website.   Barbara, Lori,  and Cynthia cleaned the  Burns Valley creek bed thrice, plus Cynthia and Barbara cleaned at Austin Park.  Cynthia got a full pickup load  from her area;  Barbara cleaned a dump load  of refuse from Burns Valley Road with loading help from Cynthia.  Lori and Gloria have been doing litter walks along Olympic, Burns Valley Road, and in front of the theater.    Edwin delivered 26 mattresses to recycle yard (Armando Gonzalez helped load the first 19 mattresses),  9 tires to Finley.   Molly and Edwin dragged the one ton appliance only dumpster back 8 feet after unloading Molly’s truck.  Bill Rett and Judy Barnes worked with Molly.   Neickol Cook, Damon Reyes, Antoinette Hamilton,  Cindy Wert, and Jim Deback all worked at Highland Park.  Raven has been working for absentee landowners--one in Canada and another in Florida.  
Estimated Garbage picked up - 2000 lbs. along with around five grocery carts.  Thanks to all!

 Work Reports:  Edwin delivered 14 mattresses to recycle yard,  Neickol and helpers cleaned  near Jack In the Box as well as two pick up loads on 6th Street.   Cynthia, Lori, and  Barbara cleaned two different days in Burns Valley Creek bed and  dumpster at dialysis center.    Cynthia on own cleaned  most of Phillips Ave.  and upper Lakeshore.   Molly Lang, Judy Barnes, and Bill Rett emptied two shopping carts, one at 14290 Robinson and the other between Hospice Thrift and Tire Pros between Lakeshore and Pearl Streets.  (Molly asks if anyone needs an R/17 truck tire.)

Work Reports:  Two (4 each) mattress loads by Ed, two dumpster runs, one of which, with Tim English.  Steve Morgan and Barbara worked over by Pomo School  using Pomo’s dumpster. Johnny Campbell and Barbara cleaned on Burns Valley Road behind Pomo School plus Acacia Street picking up a pick up load of trash. Two weed eating  requests from absentee landowners from Canada and Florida respectively, both  from 5th St.  Vicki asked  Fifth St. resident, Raven,  to contact land owners to do the jobs.  Cynthia Field has been  cleaning on  Phillips Ave.  Gennet Shatto has been cleaning in the Borax Lake and Davis St. (near the dump) areas.  Barbara cleaned under bridge near Redbud Library.

Work Reports:  Two mattress loads, one dumpster run, several loads  to library dumpster and Barbara spent ½ hour cleaning up trash that had been dumped out of the library dumpster; Cynthia picked up at least four bags of trash and misc. plastic and vinyl from around Woodland College.  
Future clean ups/activities : We are not scheduling much clean up during the pandemic prevention time. We may wish to go out alone or with a live-in partner, unofficially-probably without a CC4C vest .  Masks and gloves  are highly recommended too.
