  CITIZENS CARING FOR CLEARLAKE
2-21-22 Presidents Day What a thrill, yesterday, February 21, 2022 to enjoy the energy and vigor of youth in that ten Americorps youth from the U.S. states of Florida, Colorado, New York, Minnesota, Texas, West Virginia, New Hampshire, New Jersey,  two women from Michigan  and two local Upward Bound Lower Lake High School students, Aricelli & Jasmin, plus NCO employee extraordinaire, Tammy Alakszay, Citizens Caring For Clearlake people:   Jodie Westphal, Vicki Crystal, and Barbara Christwitz   all worked cleaning the area along Dam Road.   We  also cleaned a bit at Burns Valley Creek bed near the Olympic Laundromat and we ended up with two and a half pick up loads of debris plus five  Cal Trans highway bags for a rough estimate of 1/2 ton of debris.     See photos from the Jack Box parking lot  of the smiling faces who reported they had a 'blast' yesterday from 10 am until 4 pm with a lunch break in the afternoon there at DJ Pizza complements of North Coast Opportunities
2-12-2022 We collected about a dozen bags of trash this morning, thanks to the good work of everyone--Nicole LaBarge and Bill Toupaul of Hope Center, Mark Burger, Larry Williams, Mitch Markowitz, Neva Castro, Jodie Westphal, Barbara Christwitz, Peter Thomas and Vicki Crystal.    See the photos of the signs, most of which will be placed on Sulphur Bank Road,  made by residents of Hope Center.

Video produced by Gabriele Fellows for airing on PEG TV.  Unhoused resident,  Leesa Sealey,  organized the clean up effort. and Ms. Fellows filmed, edited, and produced it.
April 2020 Mattress pickup by Edwin Christwitz
From April 25th through the 30th 2018 about a dozen Citizens Caring For Clearlake, Mormon elders and locals,  plus three people who reside in the woods,  took on the monumental task of cleaning the path of a wooded area behind the parking lot of West America Bank, Verizon, and Marlene Wentz's tax business.   We filled a whole  cubic yard dumpster, and may need a second one down the road.   The before video is stunningly sobering and we think the after video is stunningly beautiful.
